Story goes viral: Polish dentist pulls out all of ex’s teeth out of revenge – Examiner
When Anna Mackowiak’s ex came to her with a toothache he got more than he bargained for – she pulled out all of his teeth.
The story is out of Poland and went viral on social media sites and headlines across the U.S. because, LA Times reports, it taps into men’s nightmares and women’s revenge fantasies.
Mackowiak, 34, is a polish dentist who got the ultimate revenge on her ex who dumped her for another woman. She is facing legal problems over the incident, according to The Daily Mail.
When her ex, Marek Olszewski, 45, came to her with a toothache, Mackowiak told the media she “tried to be professional and detach myself from my emotions.”
You’ve got to watch the expressions on this male reporter’s face from ABC News. Click here.
After administering anesthesia she took a look at him lying helpless in the dental chair and her emotions go the best of her, according to the report.
Olszewski said he never thought twice about visiting Mackowiak with a toothache. “I didn’t have any reason to doubt her; I mean I thought she was a professional,” The Daily Mail reports.
Still groggy and heavily bandaged after the incident, Olszewsky didn’t immediately realize what had happened.
“But when I got home I looked in the mirror and couldn’t [expletive] believe it. The [expletive] had emptied my mouth,” he said.
Women all around the world have tweeted about this, some chuckling and feeling Mackowiak was justified in her actions. Some say she was able to do something others only dream of.
“After all,” one woman posted, “look at the heartache he put her through when he dumped her for another woman.”
What do you think? Comments welcome below.
The law has its own way of looking at the incident. Mackowiak faces up to three years in prison and a medical malpractice investigation.
As for the ex-boyfriend, he is going to need some implants or dentures or something, LA Times reports.
He’ll also need a new girlfriend because his old girlfriend, the one he dumped Mackowiak to be with, has in turn dumped him.

Off-grid survival for beginning preppers – Examiner
A lot of people gave the side-eye to prepper culture when it first emerged, but the alarming number of natural and unnatural disasters that have taken place in recent years have made a strong case for its merit. To a sizeable amount of folks that have woken up to the temporary nature of societal comforts, stockpiling food, water, and fuel doesn’t seem so silly any longer.
It’s essential to know where to find water and how to disinfect it. Having a first aid kit that covers basic needs might be a life saver if you find yourself camping out in the mountains somewhere following a disaster event. If the power grid is ever hit by a solar storm or EMP, you’ll need to know where you’re going, and how to process your food and drink quickly. Likewise, if you need to go off-grid during the cold months, you’ll be glad you packed the zero degree blanket and bed pad that would save your life from freezing temperatures).
There are those that still place their trust in local and federal government resources, but both of these can become overwhelmed if a large enough disaster strikes. And, dependent upon who assumes control, plenty of people could find themselves left to die and even denied entrance to other cities that are still functioning (Katrina victims, especially those of color, know this well).
The writing has been on the wall for awhile, and it’s still relevant (increasingly so, unfortunately). Being prepared for a number of disaster scenarios will make it possible for you to grab a few bags and leave your home with what you need. And, it doesn’t have to be overwhelming to put together. You can add several items each week until it’s full. A survival pack (referred to in prepper circles as a “bug out bag” or “go bag”) that’s ready and waiting can keep you alive for 72 hours (the most crucial period after a disaster strikes).
A strong “Go bag” should contain:
- A gallon of water for each family member
- Non-perishable foods that require little food prep
-No-msg noodles that are like Ramen noodles sans the neuro-toxins – can work well.
-Buy a load of bananas and other fruits, slice them thin, and dehydrate them. Necso makes a decent dehdyrator for 35.00 (I bought mine online). Mushrooms are also dehydratable, and kale and cabbage are also wise greens to dehydrate. Pack lentils, wheat berries (wheatgrass can’t be eaten, but unrefined it’s a nutritional powerhouse after its juiced), and other beans. If you’re not gluten-intolerant, wheat berries can be eaten whole or in a cereal or soup to keep you alive if you don’t sprout them.
- Zero degree blankets or bags.
These are fairly inexpensive, and they are definitely essential in cold weather climates.
Antiseptic, bandages, gauze, butterfly stitches, pain reliever, clove oil (for dental pain), splints, garlic tablets – natural antibiotic (Natures way makes a great product), antiviral/antimicrobial/antifungal essential oils; teatree-lavender-lemon-pine, a bulb syringe to remove mucuous from nasal and mouth passages, a moon cup each for ladies that are still menstruating, antibacterial hand gel (you can make one by adding 30 drops of lavender and pine essential oils to a cup of aloe vera gel), vitamins b, c, and d (nutrition is crucial when you’re aiming to avoid unnecessary infections). Keep your immune system strong.
Special considerations: If someone in the house is pregnant, pack sterile gloves, medical-grade scissors and at least 2 umbilical cord clamps, lavender oil (for aromatherapuetic help with relaxation), antiseptic, and a birthing pad. Birth is natural, but you want to be sure you deliver a child with clean hands, and cut the cord (only after it stops pulsing and you’ve clamped it 4 inches from the baby – clamp again 4 inches from the first clamp and cut between the two clamps) with clean scissors.
- Pepper spray, a utility knife, a physical compass, solar-chargable flashlights, candles, waterproof matches or lighters, and flares
- Physical local and world maps and copies of important documents
(identification, birth certificates, social security cards, passports, medical histories, and treatments if there is an illness or condition that needs to be managed in a particular way, etc) that are at least backed up with scans and saved to a cd or dvd (both are waterproof).
In an EMP event, CDs and DVDs will be safe, and their data can be retrieved later. Sturdy usb drives should also have important files stored on them,so you have a few copies handy.
In a pinch, you’ll want to know what you can and can’t eat in nature. Dandelion greens (less bitter if you catch them in the early spring), garlic greens, oyster mushrooms, chanterelles, and mulberries are all fairly plentiful if you know which parks allow foraging and the other areas where they grow without chemical sprays.
- -Sentimental valuables and entertainments
If you do have to hole up in a cave, have a few books to read (preserve your sanity), and know that your grandmother’s wedding ring is safe.
- A crank radio and solar-charged communication/data devices
While it’s not an immediate necessity, you’ll want to have access to local reports if a very serious disaster has taken place.
- Tinfoil, duct tape, and plastic.
If an EMP takes place, and you’ve wrapped electronic valuables in alternating layers of plastic and tinfoil, you have a much better chance of preventing the EMP from frying them. It’s a makeshift Faraday cage, but it’s better than nothing at all.
When you’re prepping your Go bag, think analog. If the power grid is effected, everything that will be useful to you will be manually operated and physical. A compass app on your smartphone can’t help you if your smartphone battery runs out and there’s no electricity. An actual compass can be hidden from thieves and endure, however.
This is just an overview to start the gears turning in the right direction. The next articles I post on prepper culture will cover powdered bleach for water disinfectation, basic off-grid medicine, several survival food alternatives, and shelter options (to name a few).
Knowledge is power. Getting as much of it as you can has the potential to save the lives of you and your loved ones in uncertain times.

Toothache Day! – Examiner
That’s right its Toothache Day once again this year! Also known as The Day of the Dentist, or St. Apollonia Day.
Saint Apollonia was a Deaconess in Alexandria, Egypt. In 249 A.D. a mob attacked her and knocked her teeth out. The Egyptian government at that time gave a thumbs up to this group when they threatened to burn Apollonia to death unless she gave up being a Christian. Instead of recanting her belief in Jesus she threw herself into the fire and burned to death. She became the Patron Saint of toothaches and dentistry.
Wisconsin is a state that seems to have a festival or celebration for everything. We have a festival in honor of cow poop in Prairie du Sac, a festival for Russian space debris in Manitowoc, and a festival celebrating beef with a race called the Rump Roast 5K Run in Minocqua. The closest thing to a Toothache Festival in Wisconsin is in Burlington where a dentist sponsors a chocolate eating contest every year.
Where is the Wisconsin festival that celebrates Toothache Day?
One local event in honor of Toothache Day was found at St. Hugh of Lincoln in Milwaukee. They are having a mass in honor of St. Apollonia at 7 pm today. Other Catholic Churches in the area will probably have masses in honor of the toothache saint as well.
A very colorful and inspiring St. Apollonia Catholic celebration was held in New Haven, CT last year at St. Rose of Lima Church. Facebook has 56 photos of the event on the parish’s page and there was even a YouTube video of the event.
In hunting for any historical Toothache Day events a search was done of the Kenosha News for the February 9th editions 50, 75 and 100 years ago. No dental or toothache celebrations were found. The Catholic Churches had listings of masses but none honoring St. Apollonia in the microfilms searched in 1912, 1937 and 1962.
The Kenosha News had one listing for a dentist named Dr. N.P. Shearer oddly placed in the Local News on February 9th, 1912. On February 9, 1962 there was a story about a girl who swallowed a dental mirror who was awarded $ 2,500 by a dentist in New Jersey. Copies of these two stories are in the slide show attached to this article. There was nothing significantly dental in the Kenosha News on Feb 9th, 1937.
The Hispanic Dental Association started promoting “Dia del Dentista” (Day of the Dentist) in 2011. They seem to be trying to promote more widespread dental partying for the Patron Saint of toothaches.
Toothache Day Cakes were made by Pop.o.Licious Cake Pops for last year’s Toothache Day. These cakes could be used in a town named Apollonia, in Rusk County Wisconsin for one giant Toothache Festival on February 9th each year. Tourists could come in for the big bonfire and watch the town reenact Saint Apollonia’s death. It wouldn’t hurt to do that along with an ice fishing derby and snow carving competition.
At the US Snow Sculpting Competition in Lake Geneva this past weekend the winning sculpture crashed when the temperature went into the 40 degree range. Apollonia is a little colder. Cold enough for an enormous tooth carved out of snow to make it through a weekend Toothache Festival. A toothache event would not be seen as abnormal compared to other types of festivals we have in our state. A Wisconsin festival for toothaches would be awesome!

Piero della Francesca’s famous painting of St. Apollonia was later copied in four different works by Andy Warhol.

Patricio Toranzo almost died after health scare – Examiner
Who would ever think that a toothache could end up killing you?
No one would ever believe that, but just ask Racing Club midfielder Patricio Toranzo.
For an extended period of time, Toranzo was suffering from an infection in one of his molars; so what was supposed to be a minor complication began a major one.
After having shortness of breath and dizzyness, he headed to the Hospital Sagrada Familia where he was immediately treated with Decadron to help reduce swelling that generated a blockage to his respiratory tract. These two symptoms were what forced him to go to the hospital two hours prior to his scheduled procedure on Friday.
The infection that started with his tooth had expanded down to his throat. This caused a great deal of pain for a few days and suposedly prevented his dentist from being able to further treat the condition.
The situation has created a great deal of controversy within Racign Club because of the way the medical staff treated this particular situation.
“We aren’t dealing with losing a player in these types of situations, we are dealing with losing a life,” said Racing Club strength coach Carlos Dibos on Rock And Closs on Tuesday after Toranzo gave his interview to TyC Sports.
