Root canal procedure

This therapy refers to the treatment of the inner aspects of a tooth, specifically the area inside a tooth originally occupied by the tooth’s “pulp tissue”.
Most people would probably refer to a tooth’s pulp tissue as its “nerve”. While a tooth’s pulp tissue does contain nerve fibers it is also composed of arteries, veins, lymph vessels, and connective tissue.
We will use the terms “nerve” and “nerve tissue” to refer to a tooth’s pulp tissue.

Root Canals – An Explanation

A Root Canal Often, if a tooth is badly decayed or becomes infected a procedure called a root canal will need to be performed. A root canal is a treatment that repairs and saves the tooth.

The procedure requires the nerve and pulp of the tooth to be removed. The inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. A decayed tooth that goes without treatment can lead to infection of the tissue surrounding the tooth and abscesses may form. Read more…
